Term Life Insurance Plan
Answers to frequently asked questions
- Q. What makes term life insurance a good value?
-
A.
Term life insurance is the type of insurance frequently recommended by experts, and the reason is simple. With term coverage you purchase only the protection you need for the length of time you need it, at a rate that is affordable for you.
- Q. I already have some life insurance coverage. Is it really important to have more?
-
A.
It could be. Perhaps you’ve recently married, started a family, purchased a new home, are now caring for your parents or are planning to send your child off to college. Any of these life events may signify a need to increase your total life insurance coverage.
- Q. How quickly can I get coverage?
-
A.
Coverage begins once your application has been submitted, your coverage has been approved and your first premium has been received by Gerber Life. Term life insurance policy approval is subject to underwriting and is dependent upon answers to health and other questions.
- Q. Will I need a medical exam?
-
A.
A medical exam is not required in most cases!* When a medical exam is required due to information provided on the application, Gerber Life will take care of any associated cost. A medical exam may be needed for applicants who are 51 or older and choose a term life insurance policy with coverage of $100,000 or more.
- Q. Can a term life insurance plan be cancelled because of changes in my health?
-
A.
No. Your coverage cannot be cancelled on an individual basis because of changes in your health. Once you have been approved for coverage, your policy remains in effect for the policy term, as long as premiums are paid.
- Q. Can I cover my spouse?
-
A.
Absolutely. Gerber Life offers you the opportunity to purchase additional term coverage for your spouse through a separate Term Life policy.
- Q. What if I'm not sure how much coverage I need...or for what term?
-
A.
A knowledgeable, licensed Gerber Life Insurance representative can help you determine your term life insurance needs and can explain the coverage options available to you. Because our representatives do not get paid on commission, you can be confident we will never sell you insurance that you don’t need.
