Financial Privacy Notice for Gerber Life

This privacy notice applies to our life insurance operations in the U.S., including our processing of insurance applications and claims.
For purposes of understanding this notice, please note that the term “nonpublic personal information” refers to any personally identifiable information we obtain or generate about our customers in connection with providing you a financial product or service (e.g., life insurance).
This notice is meant to address our obligations under the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (“GLBA”) Privacy Rule, as well as certain aspects of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”).
Federal law requires us to tell you how we may collect, share, and protect your nonpublic personal information ("NPI").
Collection
We may collect NPI about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, date of birth, social security number, address, contact and other eligibility or claim information;
- Information about your transactions with us or others, such as your premium payments and claim history;
- Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies or other third parties, such as consumer or medical reports and previous policy activity.
Disclosure
We may disclose some or all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf. We may also disclose NPI about you to other nonaffiliated companies for our everyday business purposes, such as to process transactions, maintain accounts, respond to court orders and legal investigations, and report to credit bureaus. We do not disclose NPI to affiliates or nonaffiliated third party companies for their own marketing use.
Security
We restrict access to NPI about you to only authorized personnel who have a legitimate need-to-know and who are trained in the proper handling of customer information. We maintain other physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal law, including computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
