Sometimes the lessons from dad might be about practical basics, such as how to set up a bank account or how to ride a bike or drive a car. At other times they may have been lighthearted, such as tips about how to wear the same shirt for two days in a row without anybody else realizing it or how to negotiate for the last cookie in the cookie jar.

Looking back, dad likely gave us some unexpected pointers that we find ourselves using to this day – lessons that we never saw coming and that probably bring a smile to our face whenever we practice them.
