Hawaii has declared a State of Emergency due to Hurricane Lowell on September 10, 2026. Based on this, the state of Hawaii Insurance Commissioner, Scott K. Saiki, issued Memorandum 2026-8A that requests that insurers work with their insureds to identify agreeable accommodations appropriate to the circumstances. These include granting a reasonable grace period for premium payments to be made, waving late fees and penalties, as well as prohibiting cancellations of policies during the disaster period.
This grace period extension affects the entire state of Hawaii.
Pursuant to the Emergency Order, this extension of the grace period and moratorium against policy cancellation lasts until January 7, 2027, unless extended.

Hawaii Insurance Division Commissioner’s Memorandum
Georgia has declared a State of Emergency due to Hurricane Isaias on October 8, 2026. Based on this disaster, the Georgia Department of Insurance issued Directive 26-EX-7 dated October 9, 2026, that prohibits all insurance companies from canceling any policies for non-payment of premiums from those policyholders from the affected area until further advised.
This grace period extension affects the entire state of Georgia.
Pursuant to the Emergency Order, this extension of the grace period and moratorium against policy cancellation lasts until January 8, 2027, unless extended.
