The state of Louisiana has declared a State of Emergency for seven (7) parishes due to flooding caused by Tropical Storm Arthur on or around June 18, 2026. Based on this disaster, the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LA DOI) issued Emergency Rule 50 dated July 2, 2026, that prohibits all insurance companies from canceling any policies for non-payment of premiums from those policyholders from the affected parishes.
This grace period extension affects certain zip codes.
In order to comply with the Emergency Rule, the following actions have been implemented:
- There is a moratorium on cancellation of any insurance policies to last until July 22,
2026, unless extended. - The emergency rule applies to all life and health insurers.
