Indiana has declared a State of Emergency for the entire state due to flooding that began on August 11, 2026. Based on this flooding, the Indiana Governor issued a Declaration of Emergency on August 13, 2026, and the Indiana Department of Insurance (IN DOI) issued Bulletin 280 dated August 17, 2026, that requests that insurance companies temporarily suspend premium payments (i.e., extend the grace period) and prevent policy cancellations for all insurance products.
In order to comply with the Bulletin, the following actions have been implemented:
- There is a moratorium on cancellation of any insurance contract for failure to pay premiums by insureds directly impacted by this disaster. This extension of the grace period shall apply between August 11, 2026, through October 11, 2026, unless extended.
- The emergency rule applies to all the Company’s products, both individual and group policies, as well as life and health policies.
