Most likely you’re familiar with the classic Aesop fable of “The Tortoise and the Hare.” As you’ll recall, the Tortoise defeats the Hare in a race through the forest, despite being the slower of the two competitors.
Since that fateful day, it seems, the two have grown a bit older and have started families, but the Hare has not forgotten the embarrassment he suffered at the hands (claws?) of the Tortoise and has been seeking a way to make a comeback.
Recently, we learned that when the Hare overheard that his old nemesis was thinking of purchasing life insurance to better protect his tortoiseurtle family (something that the Hare had neglected to do for his bunny family), he couldn’t resist the opportunity to challenge the Tortoise to race once again.
During the next few days we will recreate in this blog the tale of an imaginary new great race between the Tortoise and the Hare, a sequel to one of the greatest spring stories ever told. We’ll reintroduce you to each contestant and describe some of their key traits. We’ll then reveal the results of their latest showdown.
Can the Tortoise keep his undefeated streak against the Hare alive?
Will the Hare bring back honor to his family name?
These pressing questions will be answered soon, but first let us introduce our contestants.
